If The Arch is THE landmark of The University of Georgia, then the Georgia Theatre is THE landmark of downtown Athens. When I arrived as a freshman, it was known as The Draft House, where you went to see second run movies for $1, and that became my Sunday night ritual.
A couple years later, it was transformed into a music venue, quickly becoming one of Athens’ iconic places to see live music along with the 40 Watt Club and Uptown Lounge.
